The DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) and BPI Foundation partnered yet again to install STARBOOKS in a number of remote, isolated schools in Region I.
A total of five schools received a complete STARBOOKS computer package with pod on a turnover ceremony at Duplas Elementary School in Sudipen, La Union on 23 April 2025, namely:
- Agaga Elementary School in Burgos, Ilocos Norte
- Rosario Elementary School in Cervantes, Ilocos Sur
- Duplas Elementary School in Sudipen, La Union
- Kabayabasan Elementary School in San Nicolas, Pangasinan
- Binmaley School of Fisheries in Binmaley, Pangasinan
Gracing the ceremony were Assistant Regional Director Racquel M. Espiritu, BPI Foundation Program Manager Patricia Joy Ongkiko, La Union Provincial Director Jonathan Viernes, DOST Ilocos Sur OIC Engr. Edison Acosta, STARBOOKS deployment officers, and focal persons from the beneficiary schools.
As part of BPI Foundationโs โKasama Lahat sa Pag-unladโ advocacy, this initiative aims to build a sustainable, inclusive, and financially well Philippines. It also supports DOST-STIIโs mandate of disseminating science, technology, and innovation learning resources through STARBOOKS.
This third round of donations from BPI Foundation, Inc., worth PHP 3.1 million, will enable 40 remote schools across the Philippines to access free, state-of-the-art learning resources.
