The Department of Science and Technology-MIMAROPA (DOST-MIMAROPA), through the DOST-Oriental Mindoro (DOST-OrMin), has successfully installed the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS) at Colegio de Naujan in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro on March 11, 2026. This initiative was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the school and DOST-MIMAROPA.

The installation of STARBOOKS provides students and teachers with offline access to thousands of science and technology resources. As a “library-in-a-box,” STARBOOKS is designed to serve communities with limited internet connectivity, ensuring that learners can still benefit from valuable academic and research materials.

An orientation was conducted to familiarize faculty and students with the system’s features and functions. The session highlighted how STARBOOKS can be used for classroom instruction, research projects, and independent study, further promoting a culture of science and innovation within the school.

Through this partnership, DOST-MIMAROPA continues to expand the reach of STARBOOKS in Oriental Mindoro. The initiative underscores the agency’s commitment to making science and technology resources more accessible to schools and communities across the province.
