On March 19, 2026, the DOST Agusan del Sur Provincial Office, in collaboration with the DOST Caraga Regional Office and the DepEd–Bayugan City Division, conducted the deployment and installation of one unit of the DOST–Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks (STARBOOKS) at 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐨 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, a last-mile school in Barangay Sto. Niño, Bayugan City.

As part of the activity, learners and teachers were oriented and trained on the proper use and operation of STARBOOKS, enabling them to maximize this offline digital library as a valuable tool for teaching and learning.

STARBOOKS serves as a gateway to knowledge by providing free access to a wide range of science and technology resources. Through this initiative, DOST continues to strengthen science education, foster curiosity, and promote innovation among learners in geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities.

More than the provision of equipment, this initiative builds capacity within schools, ensuring that science and technology resources are not only accessible, but also effectively utilized to support quality education in even the most remote areas.
